the combining ability and inheritance type of some morphological traits in bread wheat under drought stress using diallel analysis

abstract
breeding for drought stress is one the important purposes in wheat cultivars breeding programs. grain yield under drought stress is depended on phonological, morphological and physiological features. in order to investigate the general and specific combining ability and genes function under drought stress in three and two bread wheat lines and cultivars respectively, diallel one way cross was performed in agricultural and natural resource research station, tehran. parents and hybrids (f1) seeds in the fall 2013, were planted in a randomized completely block design with three replicates. number of grain in spike, number of infertile florets in spike, days to flowering, kernel weight and grain yield traits were evaluated. results from analysis of variance showed that there are significant differences between genotypes. results from diallel analysis based on griffing’s experimental method ii, model b showed that general combining ability (gca) effect in all traits and specific combining ability (sca) effect in all traits except number of infertile florets in spike were significant (p≤0.01). in addition, the ratio of gca to sca mean of squares was significant in all traits except days to flowering. higher portion of additive genetic variance in mentioned traits indicate the higher heritability of these traits and this prepares the selection possibility in early generation for these traits.

Investigation of General and Specific Combining Ability and Genetic Analysis of Different Traits of Bread Wheat under Non-Stress and Drought Stress Conditions
The production of new and compatible cultivars to different environments is one of the most important goals for the breeders. The crossing new cultivars and the selection of superior genotypes for desirable traits among their offspring is a method that has always been used by breeders. 28 genotypes obtained from the crossing of a 7 × 7 one-way diallel experiment consisting of seven parents (Alv...

In order to study the genetic conditions of some agronomic traits in wheat, a cross was made between Gaspard and Kharchia varieties. F2, F3 and F4 progenies with parents were evaluated under drought conditions. Three-parameter model [m d h] considered as the best fit for number of fertile tiller and flag leaf length using generations mean analysis method. For number of grain per spike and main ...
full textDiallel Analysis of Grain Yield and Some Important Agronomic Traits in Bread Wheat
Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Wheat is one of the most important crops in the world that plays a key role in ensuring food security. In wheat breeding programs, selection of genotypes with desirable agronomic traits and high yield potential have always been the goal of plant breeders. Increasing the selection efficiency for grain yield depends on genetic knowledge from morpholo...
full textEfficiency of Pedigree Selection in Bread Wheat under Drought Stress Conditions . I . Morphological traits
Pedigree selection was practiced on two bread wheat populations, namely Debeira x Sahel 1 and Sids 6 x Sahel 1as a first and second population, respectively under drought stress conditions (at 12 % soil moisture content) in order to improve some morphological traits (plant height, spike length, no. of spikelets /spike and days to maturity). The obtained results revealed that all F3 families in ...

Eight bread wheat genotypesof diverse origin were crossed in a half-diallel model in 2011/2012 season. The eight parents (Sahel-1 P1, Giza-168 P2, Misr-1 P3, Gemmieza-9 P4, Gemmieza-11 P5, Line-1 P6, Line-2 P7, Line-3 P8) and their 28 F1 hybrids were evaluated under normal and water stress conditions during 2012/2013 season in a two field experiments wereas designed a randomized complete block ...
full textDiallel analysis of some important Morpho-Phenological traits in bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) crosses
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is the most important food crop. It offers a great wealth of material for genetic studies due to its wide ecological distribution. The effects of GCA and SCA of morpho-phenological traits i.e. days to emergence, days to flowering, days to maturity, flag leaf length, grain filling duration, spike weight per plant, stem weight and grain yield were studied uti...
